What Is A Careers Guidance Interview?

A careers guidance interview is a confidential, impartial, one-to-one meeting between yourself and a level 6 careers adviser.

We will talk about your career ideas and how to achieve them. The guidance interview can last up to 40 minutes.

If you are not sure, we will work with you to decide what areas to discuss. These could include:

• Your current career ideas or help to generate some career ideas if you are not sure
• Routes into your chosen career – sixth form, college, training, apprenticeships, higher education, etc.
• We will give you accurate and up-to-date information about your career choice
• Advice on where you can carry out further research.
• Labour Market Information – this is about were the jobs are and were they are likely to be in the future
• Employability Skills – things like where to look for jobs, how to put a CV together and interview skills
• After the interview we will give you an action plan about your next steps
